Aeration fans are an essential part of the CA system and are fitted for the following purposes:

• Maintaining atmospheric air conditions (21% O2 and approx. 0.04%CO2) and preventing too high a CO2 content due to respiration in a (partly) closed CA space during cooling of the fruit and a possible waiting time before the CA hold begins.
• Prevent too low O2% in the CA rooms during CA storage and ensure that the target value is maintained.
• Creating an overpressure of ambient air in cold stores during the storage of trees.

A complete aeration fan consists of a negative pressure valve, a suction filter and a high efficiency fan connected to the Auto Store (D)CA control system.
