CA storage for various types of vegetables such as cabbage and leek ensures that the quality of the product is better preserved, which is reflected in a fresher appearance of the product, less yellowing and loss due to spoilage. The product can be stored longer.

Cabbage crops and leek varieties are generally very suitable for storage in gas-tight CA cold stores under controlled oxygen and CO2 conditions. Under these CA/ULO conditions, these crops can be stored for up to 8 months! Cabbage crops remain in good condition at temperatures between 0° and 0.5°C. The aim is to keep the temperature as equal as possible.

For the CA storage of cabbage varieties, storage regimes are used with both a low (1-2% O2) oxygen content in combination with often a high CO2 content (e.g. 2-3% CO2).
