Storex Catalytic Ethylene Converters (CEC)
Storex has developed a range of highly efficient ethylene converter models. The catalyst used is a special type of platinum. The catalyst does not participate in the chemical reaction, but its presence makes the conversion reaction possible. At a temperature of 250 ºC in the presence of the platinum, a conversion of the ethylene takes place according to the following formula: C2H4 + 3O2, -> 2CO2 + 2H2O.
In the Storex ethylene converter, the cell air is heated to 250C ºC through an efficient process, where the conversion of ethylene takes place. The air is then cooled down to cell temperature as much as possible. For efficient energy management and minimal heating of the cell air, we apply the Energy Swing principle whereby the airflow passes the reactor with alternating airflow direction. The process is designed based on our strict principles of using large diameter piping and valves and variable speed fans.
